Hi, I’m Angie
they/them
It’s nice to meet you! A little bit about me…
I am:
A queer, Neurodiverse, Non-binary, person of color with living and lived experience of drug use who is also multi-lingual & cultural.
What I believe in/how I engage with the world:
The personal is political.
Collective and community care is grounded in consistent practice.
Abolishing colonial, imperial, racist, ableist and carceral systems of oppressions and centering harm reduction includes the ways we think, speak, act, live and work and move throughout time.
Rest is activism.
When providing one-on-one support or workplace supervision, I aim to be:
Authentic, honest and accountable in my human-ness which includes flaws, biases and mistakes.
Kind, intentional and anti-oppressive.
My experiences:
I have worked across several areas, including LGBTQ+ health, HIV, aging, domestic and family violence (D&FV), sexual assault, and alcohol and other drugs (AOD).
My experience spans frontline direct practice as a counsellor, case manager, and support worker, as well as program and advocacy roles, including coordinator, policy lead, and training facilitator.
The paperwork (qualifications):
Master of Social Work (Qualifying)
Certificate in End-of-Life Care (Death Doula)
Diploma in Community Service
Certificate in Clinical Supervision
Bachelor of Design
TL;DR - In Summary
I am a non-binary, queer, neurodiverse person of colour with living and lived experience of drug use and a professional background in social work. Over the years, I have worked in various sectors, including government and peer-led/community-controlled organizations, taking on many roles in both crisis and non-crisis settings to support individuals, families, and facilitate group work. My recent experiences focus on program management, policy, and advocacy.
I believe in the importance of finding wellbeing and balance in the workplace, and I strive to achieve this by challenging the status quo. I advocate for change by deconstructing power structures within larger systems, whether in the workplace or within the community.
I hope the above gives you an overview of who I am and what I stand for.
